What photo the Spanish passport needs

According to the Spanish Ministry of the Interior.

  • A recent colour photograph, 32 × 26 mm.
  • Even, plain white background.
  • Taken from the front, without dark-lensed glasses or clothing that hinders identification.
  • The whole face visible: eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth and chin.
  • Good resolution, printed on quality photo paper.

When you don't need a photo

If you get or renew your DNI on the same day you apply for the passport, you don't need to bring a photo for the passport.

The size is the same as the Spanish DNI photo (26 × 32 mm). If you already have a photo, you can resize it to passport size for free and print several copies on 10 × 15. To take it at home, see how to take a passport photo with your phone.
